Day 5: NaPoWriMo 2013 – Wake-Up Song

What a delightful surprise! The NaPoWriMo prompt called for a cinquain! That is simply one of my favorite forms to write in. Given that I’m still a little sleepy, I ended up writing about it, and the singing birds that woke me at sunrise. Perhaps later, I might go back, using this poem as a base for something larger. The thing I like most about it is the repeating sound as you say it aloud.

Wake-Up Song

Sunrise
The birds singing
Serenading my soul
Simple sounds, stirring my senses
Slowly
