A walk at any time can be refreshing. Tonight, I took a short stroll away from the house and as I walked through the yard, I looked up at the crescent moon. This poem was born and later became this tanka.

By the way, go outside and check out tonight’s inverted moon. It’s rather rare to see it like that.

Nighttime Walk

Our door shrinks behind.
Green fields of tiny leaflets
Catching every step.
Chilled air suckles goose bump flesh,
With God’s thumbnail in the sky.

  3. Doug says:

    “suckles goose bump flesh,
With God’s thumbnail in the sky.”
    nice touch here….succinct…and strong
    regards,

  4. “God’s thumbnail in the sky” — heavenly line!
