A Weeping Nation Will Rise

A Weeping Nation Will Rise

Excitement peaks as runners near,
With sneakered feet in waves so strong.
What horror greets them brings a tear.
No weeping joy, for something’s wrong.

A smoky pallor fills the street.
The crying throng have born too much.
Reality is what they meet,
As death and pain reach out to touch.

Some cowards found a means to flee,
Betraying all, before their flight.
Their terror wrought insanity,
For in no eyes can this be right.

This weeping nation joins as one,
For now we bear each others pain.
But we shall not become undone,
Because this act, we all disdain.

With blackened hearts they’ll try to hide,
While our land hunts those men and then
Their just reward, we will decide.
From Boston we will rise again.
