The Story Unfolds
I hope you learn from old mistakes,
and all my lessons learned.
Please take it all, for goodness sakes,
The wisdom that I earned.
Your judgment will mature with age;
Stay focused on that thread.
Now end this chapter. Turn the page.
Remember what you read.
A house, a car, and a life your own,
such as your story goes.
Responsible, for you are grown;
Delight in what you chose.
Writing in common measure, I answer the Poetic Asides challenge of the week. This week, Robert Brewer is looking for a “chapter” poem. For some reason, I seem to try to stretch the figurative meaning of poem challenges, so I wrote about a new chapter in life as an old author passes the torch to their child.
