Little Sock

As I was commenting on some fellow poet’s blogs, I came across a challenge to write a child’s bedtime story in exactly 33 words. Here is my take:

Socks

A little sock was once my friend;
He ran off – it was not right.
I miss him so, I must contend.
So keep both socks within your sight.

All safe, in dreams, tonight.

    I fear we’ll never learn where the lonely socks disappear to.

    I wonder why socks are always so willing to run off and leave their partner behind??
