Write for Yourself

“Literature is an occupation in which you have to keep proving your talent to people who have none.” — Jules Renard

But write for yourself.
Otherwise, you’ll quickly go

I found myself connected to this quote as I recalled once posting some of my haiku to an online review site.  A lot of negative comments arrived from people who told me that my 17 syllable poems were too short…  And then was born my blog where the readership is both very kind and talented (and from whom I learn a lot!)

Hopefully you like my oddquain.  I am finding it fun to distill quotes into that form.  But in the spirit of the quote and poem, I’ll try to maintain my sanity, even if you don’t like it – be gentle!
