Dear Doctor

My son recently sprained his ankle while playing soccer. He served as inspiration for this poem, which I wrote in a French format called a Lai.

English: Grown male right foot (angle 1)

It felt like a train
had caused me a sprain,
you see.
A wellspring of pain,
sensations, insane,
for me.
So hand me a cane
for help as I strain,
I plea.

Written for a prompt at Writer’s Digest, this is my first attempt at a Lai. It’s a simple form with 9 lines. Check out the link for more details and join the challenge!
