Colors of the Past

Aroma III

Aromatic wisps.
Another’s fragrance
ignites the imagination.
Scorches a frail heart.
Scars feed determination
to dazzle at all costs .
Drastic solutions
emerge in the peroxide basin.
Myopic foresight bleaches
memories of the past .

This was a response to a challenge to write exactly 33 words that include the words basin, myopic, and dazzle. I chose a free verse poem written from the perspective of a jilted lover.

Ooh, scorches a frail heart. I love that line! Great 33!

  2. Very vivid imagery all throughout this poem, Gene. Love the sensory details in the smells of another person igniting the imagination and acprching the heart. Been there, done that. You captured the essence of that bang-on.

“Another’s fragrance…” I like the way smell can trigger memories. Fantastic.
