Sound the alarm and let it ring,
Then try the snooze, or even to sing.
But when you sing, you must sing it right.
Flip on the switch, turn on the light.
Open the window, let in some air.
Nudge away, nudge away, if you should dare.
Take all the blankets, pulling them back,
Or steal the pillow, mount an attack.
Try getting up and pacing around
And begging and pleading, let it abound.
But try as you might, all those will fail,
Leaving but one thing to always prevail…
Day 19 of NaPoWriMo looks for a didactic poem. It’s a poem that offers instruction of some sort. I offer this to my love who sometimes find waking me to be a challenge.
