Oh Darling, Yes I Do

With hair a mess and morning breath
I am a sight to see.
Until I brush and clean myself,
Please keep your eyes closed tight.
Do you love me anyway?

Oh Darling, yes I do.
With lovely hair and brilliant eyes,
I cannot help but stare.
For in my sight, no matter what
Your beauty rocks my world.
Oh I love you every day.
Oh Darling, yes I do.

Sometimes I cry and don’t know why,
So emotionally.
And then there’s moods that ebb and flow
Now watch out when they come!
Do you love me anyway?

Oh Darling, yes I do.
For that’s the way you share yourself –
With such a lovely heart.
And though you keep me on my toes,
You’ve opened just to me.
Oh I love you every day.
Oh Darling, yes I do.

I saw some grey sprout in my hair,
It seems I’m getting old.
Upon my hips and everywhere,
It’s too much cellulose.
Do you love me anyway?

Oh Darling, yes I do.
My hands run through that silky hair
You’re youthful to the touch.
And when I hold you, oh so close,
Perfection in my arms.
Oh I love you every day.
Oh Darling, yes I do

I worry now as years pass by
I’m getting old, you know.
The same old song you’ll hear each day,
Sung by the same ol’ me.
Do you love me anyway?

Oh Darling, yes I do.
We travel life, both hand-in-hand.
Growing old, together.
Be with me now and sing your songs
Do it forever more,
Oh I love you every day.
Oh Darling, yes I do.

Day 26 of NaPoWriMo came quickly.  I can’t believe the month is almost over.

Today’s poem is a call-and-response poem. At first I wasn’t sure what to write about, but then I turned to my favorite inspiration and the words started to flow.  And to that inspiration – Oh I love you every day. Oh Darling, yes I do.
