Long Lines of Democracy

Across the country – mud slinging and name calling. Is that the answer?
As thoughts take action, neighbors revealed their true selves, by casting ballots.
The fog dispersed. Morning shed new light on life – candidates chosen.
What were we thinking? There are none who are content and polls are now closed.
Some may not like it. Some might want to leave our land. But most accept it.
And ultimately, this principle makes us shine – our democracy.

Day 27 of NaPoWriMo In Pennsylvania, we voted in our primary presidential elections yesterday.  It inspired my “long lines” poem for the NaPoWriMo prompt. I strived for 17 syllables for each line to make mini-haiku-like poems with each.
